"Ordinary People," a poignant drama adapted by Nancy Pahl-Gilsenan from Judith Guest's 1976 novel, delves into the raw emotional landscape of a family unraveling after a devastating tragedy. First performed in 1983, this powerful play explores the profound effects of grief, depression, and fractured family ties, offering a deeply moving portrayal of resilience and healing.

The story follows Conrad Jarrett, a teenager grappling with crippling depression and survivor's guilt after the death of his older brother, Buck, in a boating accident. As Conrad struggles to navigate his fragile mental health, his relationships with his successful, well-meaning father, Calvin, and his emotionally distant mother, Beth, grow increasingly strained. The Jarrett family, once a picture of suburban normalcy, teeters on the edge as each member confronts their personal battles with loss and connection.

The play examines the weight of grief, the complexities of mental health, and the delicate dynamics of family. It underscores the importance of seeking help and the ripple effects of trauma on those left behind, portraying the struggle to find hope amidst despair.

Join us in bringing this heartfelt and thought-provoking story to life. Auditions are open for roles that demand emotional depth and authenticity, as we depict the Jarrett family’s fight to heal and reconnect.
